This patch is on the smaller side but has some big changes to game mechanics. Just feed a dog some meat and it will increase its loyalty to you (and heal it a small amount). I will be experimenting more with friendly and hostile AI beyond simple NPCs, but for now you can gain the trust of a furry friend who will defend you in battle.
